My little one has normal blinds in her room but with the mornings getting lighter she seems to be wakening a little earlier every morning!
Health visitor suggested a blackout blind in her room.
Has anyone used these and where are the best places to get them?
thanks
I brought a piece of blackout material from my local fabric shop. Instead of it costing me £30 for premade one, I made my own for £6.
I folded over one end to make a tunnel (the same as the top of a net curtain) and threaded through a net curtain cord.
I also have blind at my daughter’s window, and this fit under it where the net curtain used to be.
They are worth any money you pay for them, it was my best buy. We have been using it for a year now and she isn’t getting up at 5am because it is light outside.

If you have sewing skills, you can make them yourself. Buy some blackout fabric…at any fabric store and just sew it onto the back of her existing curtains. I have these on my curtains since the sun shines right into my eyes in the mornings, I made them myself. The blackout fabric is just this thick, white stuff, you can see it on the curtains in virtually every hotel room. It’s a tad pricey, but worth it.

blackout blinds…
look at home improvement stores…you can ask an associate in "window treatments" for "blackout blinds" or "room darkening" blinds…or, you can add curtains over the blinds. Curtains will reduce the amount of light by adding another layer and could be more or less expensive than replacing the blinds.

I am fairly certain you can get them from Argos if you are in the UK – that’s where I got one from a couple of years ago. Try the link below x

I just put up some heavy blankets over my daughters windows. They also insulate the windows so her room stays warm, too.

I bought pull down blinds from the local big box hardware store. Get them cut several inches bigger than the window and install them on the outside of the frame. There are usually several thicknesses so make sure you get the ones that let no light through. The light still comes around the edge of the window, but it does keep my kids in a bed until a while after sunrise, they get up about 1/2-1 hour after the sun.
