the paper is,im just getting a4 sheets of black card and sticking them togethermso it can fold away, what gsm would i need to block out light,or if anyone has any blackout blinds or materiak or even black card,i would be very grateful for any donations

I’ve made blackout blinds for my boyfriend, who is an ER doctor who sometimes works overnight shifts and has to sleep in a dark room during the day. The Joann’s fabric stores (or any big sewing and fabric store in your area that sells drapery materials) sells 60" wide blackout fabric for $5.99 a yard but they often have it for half off which is less than $3 a yard. If you get a yard and a half (4 1/2 feet long by 5′ feet wide) you can cover two average windows (up to 54" x 28") for $4.50. It is lightweight beige or white fabric but it really does block 100% of any light. I put it over the windows by using Velcro. I sew the pile (soft) velcro to the edges of the fabric and then use the peel-and-stick loop velcro side around the edge of the window. Seals it up tight. You could also use tacks or staples to hang it.

We skip the blinds and just staple thick black trash bags in the window. You need strips of card
board along the edges to create a good "seal" against the wall, and give something for the staples to hold on to.

Works like a charm, and is cheap.
