Can window blinds be hung on vinyl window frames, are there special screws?

My landlord is installing new windows, inside and out. They are vinyl, and my blinds were hung on wood window frames. How does one hang window blinds on vinyl window frames?

It is highly likely that the screws will pull out of the vinyl. Keep in mind that the length of the screw was sunk into the wood. In all but the very best vinyl windows, the extruded vinyl in the frame is very thin. The screw really has very little to hold onto. If you raise and lower your blinds with any frequency at all, I all but guarantee that they will quickly pull out.

Good luck with your blind problem.

best to hang them outside the frames on the wall.

i have vinyl blinds hanging on my vinyl windows you just have to use the hardware that comes with the blinds, but if you hang them just above the window you dont have that thin sliver of light that comes through when you do it the other way

You don’t hang the blinds on the window frame, you hang them on the wall. You’re essentially going to be ruining your windows and letting in air infiltration through the vinyl. The vinyl is not solid, it’s semi hollow and made up of several chambers.

My thought is that you may be mistaking the interior wood window casing (trim) with the actual window frame.
